I have to say – this was an event to remember! Mr. & Mrs. Stephens asked us to plan and design their 40th Anniversary party after their daughter’s wedding this June. They wanted a Casablanca theme – and they got one! I am so proud of this event and I am still on a high from just looking at these photos. Yes we do more than just weddings! Our website will hopefully reflect more of that soon! Check out all the fun details from the event here!
We had so much fun designing this event. In fact – we really wanted to reflect the era and Moroccan flair of the Casablanca film. We custom designed the podium and my clients brought in one of their favorite restaurant owners near their house to be their maitre d’! We brought in rented vintage suitcases from Something Vintage and the client hung Casablanca posters around the perimeter of the tent – which was erected around their driveway and their back garden and porch areas!
Every menu on each table had a different travel theme and fun saying at the bottom. We really wanted to have table games – but knew it would just not allow enough space for the guests to fully enjoy the food, atmosphere and live music. So we decided to blame it on the police! HA! Each table had its own vintage jar filled with peanuts, a table number with the menu on the back along with our gorgeous floral design with red votives. The flowers were black magic roses, orange ranunculus and and gomphrena in our estate glassware. Menus and table numbers were designed by Design District DC.
One of the biggest highlights of the night was the lounge area we created. We had vintage furniture and suitcases as end tables. A vintage trunk complete with a chess set (as Rick was playing chess often in the movie) along with parlor chairs, rugs, lighting, flowers, vintage samovar and pashminas for the ladies as the evening had a chill in the air. It was a fantastic addition!
The live band was the same band that played at their daughter’s wedding! Later that night they had a fantastic female vocalist that had the most amazing voice…come to find out —-> she is Tina Turner’s cousin! What? AHHHHMAAZZZZING! She was literally dazzling!
The night was like magic and the guests just had an amazing time!
Happy Anniversary to the Stephens and…
