We had one of the most beautiful weddings of the year in June at the Decatur House. An all-Kosher wedding with fantastic catering by Foremost! We used our birch pole chuppah for the first time, complete with curly willow, moss and phaleanopsis orchids.
For the first time ever – we hung interesting babies breath clouds both inside the tent and into the carriage house. This is the first time anything has ever been hung inside the carriage house. The bride really wanted an organic feel – so instead of babies breath pomanders – we went with a fun and loose feel of organic babies breath clouds and our copper hanging glass lanterns.
There were flowers everywhere at this event. We create the bridal bouquet with lamb’s ear, peonies and rosemary along with the bridesmaid bouquet that had calla lilies. The museum is where everything started with the Tisch and the Badeken (and food), followed by the ceremony under the chuppah. Then we had dancing and cocktails in the carriage house followed by dinner in the tent. The guests danced the night away afterwards in the carriage house with a cappuccino bar and fresh baked cookies and Kosher ice cream on tap! The buffets for the pre-ceremony time had beautiful arrangements of orchids and stock and cocktail tables had the above reclaimed wooden boxes with echeveria blooms.
The cocktail hour was complete with a tex-mex station and a sushi station! Instead of escort cards – the guests were given buttons to show them which table to be seated at (each table was an election year since they met on the 2008 Obama election campaign).
As soon as I get the professional photos back – I can show you more of the reception. The flowers for the tables had reclaimed boxes with babies breath, some had boxes with roses, rosemary and dusty miller and then others had clusters of herbs for the guests to take away!!
Stay tuned for more!!!
